The College of Science and Engineering in University of Galway has advertised the post of Director of Research Institutes Technology Services. This is a senior 5-year fixed-term post. The Director of Research Institutes Technology Services will lead the provision of professionally managed and specialist shared research facilities across a number of research-enabling platforms. These include a Discovery and Analysis platform, which will support the establishment of the world-class research infrastructure and equipment (e.g., microscopy, mass spectrometry, genomics, flow cytometry) to enable discovery and innovation; the Advanced Therapies Platform which will encompass shared GMP facilities; and the Pre-clinical Platform (the integration of the Bio-Resource Unit into the Directorate is planned for year 4 and will encompass in vivo imaging).
The Research Institutes Technology Services Directorate will provide state of the art equipment, technical supports, expertise and consultancy on a charging basis to academic researchers and industry. The post provides scientific, technical and administrative leadership, oversees all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Directorate, and has a strategic and business development role in ensuring the financial sustainability of the Technology Services Directorate and in engaging with industry as a key feature of the business model of the Directorate.
